Are you curious about which medicinal plants & mushrooms are in the river valley? Do you wonder which wild foods are edible?
Want to impress your friends with your amazing knowledge next time you’re on a river valley walk with them?
We invite you to join Robert Rogers for an entertaining and educational evening plant and mushroom walk through Mill Creek Ravine.
These walks are rain or shine events and there are no refunds. Please wear proper clothing and footwear to keep comfortable. Please keep track of the date as there will not be a reminder.
Meet at the Millcreek Ravine, Parking Lot, at 4:45 p.m. About 83 ave and 96 street, Edmonton.
Here’s what you may see on the Plant Walk:
50-60 plants that are edible, medicinal, or useful in survival situations.
Some are native to this part of Alberta and others are introduced. You may see the strongest thread, the best hair conditioner, the second most important survival food in the forest, a great remedy for menstrual cramps, and our only edible nut.
You will explore a few ways to safely identify plants and which ones to avoid. You’ll learn how wild plants might relieve symptoms associated with chronic disease. You may learn how to prepare plants for long-term storage (and maybe even spot a few mushrooms that are edible as well).
There will be an opportunity to purchase some of Robert’s books after the event. He has many, so be prepared :)
